The 2019 Frostbite Turkey Trot Regatta on Sunday, November 17th, was brisk, puffy & shifty. Fortunately, the water was relatively smooth but the northeast winds from 8-20+ mph made the day a real challenge. The 6 boat fleet was small but competitive. Unfortunately, the conditions were a little too challenging for the Laser fleet did not race. The Sunfish fleet had some close racing and everyone DID keep their mast pointing up all afternoon long. Billy Sesack, sailed consistently to take the Regatta title while Paul & Doug Wefer tied behind him with 12 points. Joe Beitch again showed great improvement while Sean Murphy and Annika Kaelin found some of their own moments to shine. Michael Johnson & David Lawson did show their courage to try the conditions but chose not to push beyond their comfort zone so they only made it around the track once. As always, thank you to Mary Ellen Wefer & Charles Beitch for running 7 efficient windward-leeward races. Further, thank you Mary Ellen Wefer for making sure that everyone went home with the customary Turkey Trot turkeys as trophies.
